Samantha Lang, one of Australia’s most talented directors, is coming to the Sydney Drama School for a one-day Actor’s Masterclass on December 13th. Our last in our Masterclass series for 2015!
Samantha is a writer/director and has worked in film, television, commercials , as well as in theatre productions. Since graduating with a BD(Hons) in Visual Communications from University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), and a BA in Directing from the Australian Film and Television School (AFTRS), Samantha’s career has been punctuated by artistic verve and achievement. Working across a variety of mediums – she has continued to embrace confronting and ambitious material.
This year she has been developing two feature film scripts Night Games and Brown Lake, which she plans to direct in the next two years. She is also slated for 2 high end TV projects in 2016.
A true actors’ director Samantha has also written and delivered a practical course on Directing Performance at AFTRS.
Samantha has also been elected as the President of the Australian Director’s Guild marking her as one of the most respected directors in the country.
This Masterclass will give actors the opportunity to learn from Samantha’s experience directing some of the finest talent in the country. Find out what she looks for in an actor and how she works to help shape a performance.
The morning will consist of an introduction to Samantha’s work and her own artistic approach as a director.
The bulk of the day will be spent workshopping scenes under Samantha’s direction. The scenes are recorded and everyone will receive a copy of their footage.
We will finish the day with a Q&A were students will have the chance to pick Samantha’s brain about her knowledge and experience of the craft and the industry.
