Our SDS Youth Term Classes provide young people interested in acting and presenting early access to professional skills and screen techniques.
Not only will students engage in improvisation and text-based exercises, but they'll learn practical skills to develop their understanding of working on screen.
This will Include such things as unraveling a script, taking direction, building a character and working with others to make a scene work, as well as exercises to develop presenting skills and confidence in audition preparation.
Just like playing a sport, each term builds on what’s been learned in the last. This allows young students to refine their skills and develop confidence more and more with each term.
Our SDS Youth 2017 Term Dates are as follows:

8 weeks. One class per week, 2 hours in duration. 8 classes in total.
Ages 8-11 | Sunday mornings | 10.00am - 12.00pm
Devising for Camera: Learn to devise and create scenes for camera in this interactive and educational course. Work closely with an industry professional to learn techniques that will assist in developing your choices made on camera. Explore character, scene, setting and scenario, while working with your peers to create an interesting and exciting world.
Ages 12-17 | Sunday afternoons | 12.00pm - 2.00pm
Camera Acting Techniques + Devising: Learn the tricks of the trade and get a much stronger understanding of what is required when acting on screen. Take notes and implement your choices in various scenes on screen and also create and devise your own scenes for filming. Working with an industry professional, this course will be sure to provide you with the tools needed when approaching scene work and auditions.

Jack Ellis is a South-Australian born actor who will feature in Season 5 of the Logie award-winning 'A Place to Call Home' alongside Marta Dusseldorp and Noni Hazlehurst. He was also the lead actor in the Off Broadway play 'Wolf in The River' in NYC which was written and directed by Pulitzer-nominated writer, Adam Rapp.
Jack has featured in music videos as well as various online sketches. He has worked as an actor, artist, festival promoter, talk show host, high school and primary school teacher, drama coordinator, visual arts teacher and Italian teacher.
A creative leader, educator and actor with a Bachelor of Education/Arts and a Bachelor of Acting (NIDA), Jack is committed to assisting all people - specifically young actors - find and celebrate their individualities through exciting and engaging performance practice.
